Following their ordeal at the Litani River, the West Australians of the 2/16th Battalion were ordered to advance through open country toward Sidon. The objective as a wadi north of the town. The Australians reached a point one mile short of their goal against only scattered enemy resistance. But a gap opened between the lead companies.
