Overview:
The 11th Panzer Division commenced their attack in the morning of 9 July, and by mid-day had penetrated positions of the 3rd Mechanized Corps. The 86th Tank Brigade defended villages along the highway south of Novoselovka. During these engagements, the Russian launched local counter attacks in an effort to slow the German advance.
